SRC Group is proud to announce that we’ve been recognised at the 2025 Global Good Awards, taking home Bronze in the Product of the Year category for our innovative low-carbon concrete solution, ECO-BLOC®.
This achievement marks another important contribution towards creating a more sustainable construction sector and it’s a proud moment for our entire team.
Following on from our Silver win in the Circular Economy category in 2024, this latest award is a testament to our ongoing commitment to developing practical, low-carbon solutions to drive change within our industry.
The Global Good Awards celebrate organisations across the world that are making a positive difference for people, the planet and the economy. They recognise those who are going above and beyond to make innovative and ethical business practices central to their business by reducing carbon emissions and conserving resources.
For SRC Group, being recognised on this global stage is particularly meaningful. Sustainability isn’t a marketing line for us; it’s embedded into the way that we operate. From our state-of-the-art recycling centres and low-carbon concrete production, to our new construction arm SRC Build.
ECO-BLOC® represents years of collaborative research and development. Designed as a sustainable alternative to traditional concrete blocks, ECO-BLOC® Blocks are made by using recycled aggregates and low-carbon cement substitutes. The result is a robust, high-performing building block that significantly reduces carbon emissions without compromising on strength or durability.
Manufactured entirely in-house using materials recovered from SRC’s own recycling facilities, ECO-BLOC® is a perfect example of how waste can be turned into a valuable resource. Every block produced reduces the need for virgin materials and helps to divert millions of tonnes of waste from landfill each year.
The key to ECO-BLOC®’s success is the combination of performance and sustainability. It offers the same reliability as conventional concrete products whilst dramatically lowering embodied carbon; a vital step towards greener construction across the UK.
At SRC Group, we’ve spent decades developing a model that keeps materials in use for as long as possible. The process begins with the collection of construction and demolition waste, which is sorted, washed and processed at one of our recycling centres.
Once processed, the materials are repurposed and reintroduced into the construction cycle through our range of recycled aggregates, low-carbon ready mix concrete, and ECO-BLOC®.
This closed-loop system means that waste produced from one project can become the raw material for another; reducing dependency on finite resources and cutting the carbon impact of construction at every stage.
By creating ECO-BLOC®, we’ve taken this idea a step further and developed a tangible, market-ready product that embodies our circular economy in action.
Winning Bronze at the Global Good Awards is more than just recognition for ECO-BLOC®, it reflects the progress that we’re making towards our wider sustainability goals.
ECO-BLOC® supports our Vision 2030 roadmap, which focuses on cutting emissions, increasing recycling capacity and embedding circular principles into every part of the business. We’ve already made significant progress:
Behind every innovation is a dedicated team of people who make it happen. This award is a recognition of the collaborative effort across all departments at SRC Group; from research and product development to production, logistics and marketing.
Our teams have worked tirelessly to perfect ECO-BLOC® Blocks, to ensure that they met both environmental goals and construction standards. They now stand as a real-world example of how sustainability and performance can work hand in hand.
This achievement also highlights the dedication of our colleagues who operate our recycling facilities, transport the materials and produce the ready mix and aggregates that make ECO-BLOC® possible. Every stage of the process matters and this award belongs to everyone involved.

ECO-BLOC® doesn’t just reduce carbon emissions; it transforms how the industry thinks about waste. By proving that recycled materials can perform just as well as, if not better than, virgin ones, it challenges long-standing assumptions in construction.
Each block represents a small but meaningful step towards a net zero future, supporting developers, contractors and clients who are looking for greener ways to build.
ECO-BLOC® also demonstrates how innovation can partner with commercial viability. Sustainable materials aren’t just good for the planet, they can also drive efficiencies by lowering costs, as well as aligning projects with ever-tightening environmental regulations.
As proud as we are of this award, we see it as another milestone on our sustainability journey, not the destination. We’ll continue investing in research and new technologies to further enhance our recycling operations and expand our low-carbon product range.
Through our Vision 2030 framework, we’re committed to creating an even greater positive impact, from reducing diesel use across our plants to introducing new electric-powered systems and smarter logistics technology.
Each of these initiatives supports our core goal: to make construction more sustainable.
Winning Bronze for ECO-BLOC® at the 2025 Global Good Awards is a moment of real pride for everyone at SRC Group. It reflects not just a single product’s success, but our entire approach; one that sees waste as opportunity and innovation as responsibility.
We’re proving that it’s possible to combine performance with environmental progress and that doing the right thing for the planet can also deliver for our customers and communities.
From recycled aggregates to ready mix concrete and the construction expertise of SRC Build, ECO-BLOC® sits at the heart of a much bigger story: one where the materials of yesterday become the sustainable solutions of tomorrow.
