SRC Group Wins Circular Economy Success Award at the 2026 Awards for Excellence

We are delighted to announce that SRC Group has been named the winner of the Circular Economy Success category at the 2026 Awards for Excellence in Recycling and Waste Management.

The awards ceremony took place in May of this year and brought together businesses, local authorities, organisations and industry leaders from across the recycling, waste management and circular economy sectors. The Circular Economy Success category in particular celebrates organisations that are finding innovative ways to keep resources in use and reduce waste; demonstrating the practical benefits of circular approach.

For us, this award is more than a trophy; it’s recognition of the hard work from our teams, as well as our circular economy approach that underpins so much of what we do across the wider SRC Group.

A Circular Economy in Action

The phrase ‘circular economy’ is often used when discussing sustainability, but for SRC Group it’s not simply a long-term ambition, it’s a concept that has very much become a core part of our day-to-day operations.

Across the construction industry, large volumes of materials are removed from sites through demolition and excavation. Traditionally, much (if not all) of this material would have been viewed as waste and transported away for disposal into landfill. Instead, at SRC Group, we see waste as a valuable resource and every day we recover a huge range of discarded materials from sites around the country and bring them back to life via our network of in-house recycling facilities.

Rather than following a linear ‘take, use and dispose’ model, we keep materials in circulation for as long as possible; lowering the demand for primary resources. It’s this dedication to resource recovery and reuse that sits at the heart of our circular economy model.

From Discarded Waste to Valuable Construction Materials

One of the reasons that this award means so much to us is that it recognises the work that’s taking place across multiple areas of our business. Every day, materials arrive at our facilities from demolition sites and earthworks projects. This process doesn’t happen by accident; it requires investment, expertise, planning and a shared commitment across the entire organisation.

These materials are then carefully processed and assessed before becoming:

The People Behind the Award

Whilst this award recognises SRC Group as a business, it’s ultimately a result of the dedication and hard work of our people. From demolition teams and site operatives to laboratory technicians, plant operators, drivers, engineers and office staff; every department contributes to making our circular economy model work.

  • Materials must be recovered safely
  • Waste must be classified correctly
  • Products must meet strict quality standards
  • Logistics must run efficiently
  • Customers must receive a reliable service

Each stage relies on the commitment of the people behind it and this award belongs to every member of the SRC Group team who helps to turn our circular economy ambitions into reality each day.

Continued Investment into Sustainable Alternatives

Receiving national recognition is a proud achievement but for us it’s not the finish line. We are continually investing into recycling infrastructure and new technologies that can help to reduce waste and improve resource efficiency across the construction sector.

That commitment has also been recognised through our award-winning ECO-BLOC® product range. Manufactured using recycled aggregates recovered through our recycling operations, ECO-BLOC® was awarded Bronze in the Product of the Year category at the 2025 Global Good Awards, following a silver award in the Circular Economy category in 2024. These achievements demonstrate how materials recovered through our circular economy model can be transformed into practical products for the construction industry.

As the industry evolves, we remain focussed on finding new ways to recover, process and reuse materials that might otherwise be lost from the construction cycle. Our aim is simple: maximise the value of resources, minimise waste and support a more sustainable future for both the construction sector and the planet.

Looking Ahead for SRC Group

Winning the Circular Economy Success Award reflects the progress that we’ve already made and the commitment shown by our teams across the business. Most importantly, it reinforces our belief that waste should be viewed as a resource with the potential to create real value again and again.

As we look to the future, we remain committed to advancing circular economy principles throughout our operations and helping to drive positive change across the construction and recycling sectors. We would like to thank our employees, customers, suppliers and partners for their continued support.

This award is something that we’re incredibly proud of and we look forward to building on this success in the years ahead.
